Etihad Rail has opened its Dubai station ahead of the launch of passenger services on September 30, 2026.
The new service will connect Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah by passenger train. Tickets start at AED39 ($11) for Comfort Class. Premium Class tickets start at AED109 ($30).
The Dubai station also connects directly with the Dubai Metro, giving passengers another way to travel across the emirate.
UAE President Travels to Dubai on Etihad Rail
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan travelled from Abu Dhabi to Dubai on Etihad Rail ahead of the station opening.
During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, inaugurated the station.
The ceremony marked a major step for the UAE’s national passenger rail network. It also marked the start of the network’s next phase of expansion.
Etihad Rail Tickets Start at AED39
Passengers can book their Etihad Rail tickets through the Etihad Rail website, mobile app and station ticket machines.
The current fares start at:
- Comfort Class: AED39 ($11)
- Premium Class: AED109 ($30)
Passengers must have a valid ticket before boarding the train.
The new passenger service will connect major locations across the UAE. As a result, it will give residents and visitors another option for inter-emirate travel.
Dubai Station Connects to Dubai Metro
The Dubai station has a direct link to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.
A dedicated pedestrian bridge connects the two stations. Therefore, passengers can move between Etihad Rail and the Dubai Metro without leaving the transport network.
The service will also work with Dubai’s nol system. Passengers can use a single QR code for journeys that combine Etihad Rail with the Metro, Tram and buses.
This integration will make it easier for passengers to plan trips using different forms of public transport.
Etihad Rail Expands Passenger Network
The Dubai station forms part of the UAE’s wider passenger rail network.
Dubai and Al Dhaid stations will begin passenger services on September 30. More stations will follow in November and December 2026.
Meanwhile, Sharjah Station is scheduled to open on March 30, 2027.
Etihad Rail Mobility will operate the passenger services. The company is a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis.
The launch gives passengers a new way to travel between the emirates. It also strengthens connections between Dubai and the UAE’s wider rail network.
